Yellow Belt with Green Stripe:

Tae Geuk Sam Jang (3)
Students must learn this form for promotion to 6th Gup / Green Belt:

RI

The symbol of Tae Geuk Sam Jang is Ri meaning fire. Through Taekwondo training, you have developed physical strength, and inner power. At this stage, the more effort you put out, the more your enthusiasm burns. New movements in Taegeuk Sam Jang are back stance, knifehand strike and knifehand block. The block-punch and block-kick combinations require quickness and the ability to coordinate your body to create integral forces. Use speed in defending and power in attacking.
This form is for the 6th Gup.
There are 20 movements.

The Tae Geuk poomse are meant to follow all eight trigrams with a pattern of three linear lines in plain view. The attempt is made to equate each form with one of the eight primary trigrams as a way to underpin the philosophy of tae kwon do to forms practice.

Harmony is created by balance between two opposing forces.
