About Us

Our School:
Brookings Tae Kwon Do, LLC (Brookings TKD) is a martial art training center that teaches traditional World TaeKwonDo (WT) in a practical and safe manner. All our Instructors are international Kukkiwon Certified Black Belts and Pooms (Jr. Black Belts) and use a combination blend of the most modern and traditional styles of teaching. In addition to our classes, we also offer Personal One-on-One Training and K.N.O.W. Self-Awareness & Self-Defense Classes.

Our Motto:
Brookings TaeKwonDo’s school motto is typically recited at the end of each class with students and instructors speaking it in unison. It is the simplest form of verbal expression we can say and receive as one individual, one school and one family.

Brookings Tae Kwon Do, LLC takes great pride in its relationships with Local, State, National and International Organizations. It is not an easy task to join and continue to stay current in these well-recognized organizations. We believe it is paramount in maintaining good working relationships and to continue with quality of knowledge and training for our School, Instructors and Students.

Kukkiwon Logo
The Kukkiwon in Korean is the most recognized leader and validation of training in martial arts in the World. Kukkiwon also known as World Taekwondo Headquarters, and home of the World Taekwondo Academy is the official Tae Kwon Do governing organization established by the South Korean government. It is supervised by the International Sports Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. All of our Instructors are Kukkiwon Certified Black Belts. The Kukkiwon serves all Taekwondo worldwide, providing standardized curriculum, teaching certifications and promotional requirements and certifications. The Kukkiwon is very proactive in its development of information for instructors and maintaining the traditional TaeKwonDo art and its Korean heritage.

World Taekwondo Logo
World TaeKwonDo formerly known as the World TaeKwonDo Federation until 2017 is the foremost entity for regulation of TaeKwonDo in the world. Considered independent to the Kukkiwon, World TaeKwonDo works closely with the Kukkiwon to maintain continued training and quality for our incredible art. World TaeKwonDo is the second largest sport in the world behind soccer. It is the international federation governing body in sport of TaeKwonDo for the World Olympics and was pinnacle in getting world acceptance for TaeKwonDo on the world stage in the Seoul 1988 Games as a demonstration sport and was officially recognized and added to the Olympics in the Sydney 2000 Games. World TaeKwonDo is a member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations. It also strives to be proactive in its development for instructors and maintaining the traditional art and its Korean heritage.

AAU - Taekwondo
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by nearly 800,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers. The AAU Taekwondo Program is open to athletes of all ages and abilities. Athletes may participate in Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Black Belt divisions in Forms, Olympic-style Sparring and Point Sparring.

 

USA Taekwondo Logo
The United States Olympic Committee recognizes USA TaeKwonDo as the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of Taekwondo in the United States. A primary function of the NGB is to conduct national and international events in its sport. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration sport at the Seoul 1988 Games but was not officially added to the Olympic program until the Sydney 2000 Games. USA TaeKwonDo has complete authority over all decisions regarding US national junior and senior team selections for World Taekwondo events, including the Summer Olympic Games Taekwondo competition event.
